Another 2 months have sped by, and I have been continuing to pursue my college education, as well as Speed Reading! It’s been fairly successful, and I’m looking forward to continuing the journey!
Let’s see where we stand:
1. Introduction to Business Law
I took the UExcel Examination on May 26th, 2015. I scored an overall letter grade of A. Excelsior has an interesting testing procedure, whereby all of the questions are not tallied up in the final score (some are experimental questions). This is why I got an A letter grade despite scoring below 90% on the exam.
Overall, the studying was pretty good. I had the Excelsior Study Sheet by my side, and I created a study guide by going through the list of items, and writing about each of them. It helped that I used the official Excelsior recommended textbook! Overall, a rather pleasant experience. I enjoy the subject.
Contract Law is a bitch! But it’s fun.
2. Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union
This one is a game-changer. A true mindset shifter, as I have found for all study of History. There’s something so profoundly powerful about history; it’s incredible.
Vladimir Lenin, despite the best intentions, had the belief that the end justified the means.
You rarely ever see good results when people have held that belief. Thereby, logically, it is not a strong belief to hold. The ends do not justify the means.
As I mentioned previously, the exam was undergoing some changes when I started studying in January.
Unfortunately, DSST still has not gotten new course approval for this exam, so I cannot take it yet. I will keep you updated when I take this, though.
3. Breakthrough Rapid Reading
Here, I’ve continued to diligently study and do my reading exercises from the book. I feel a lot of plateaus sometimes, as the high WPM numbers in my Excelsior table don’t reflect how low my comprehension rate is. I’m about halfway through the book; I’m going at a slow tortoise pace; 30 minutes a day, one chapter per week. Perhaps I am too slow; you want to be a speedy tortoise, not a slow one! Regardless, I will continue!
Look out for an update soon as I decide my direction for the next two months!
